june 24 newsletter
hi friend,
Summer has been flying by. I have so much to share!
In the last 6 weeks we have had so many haus updates: 2 sets of outdoor chairs arrived- one for the backyard and one in the atrium, our dining table + chairs, Jess’ custom DJ table, and we even switched the dining room to what is now the DJ room. We also got new bedding: buffy sheets + a dusen dusen coverlet, and a new dresser. So I guess the primary bedroom, dining, and outdoor spaces are now complete! RIP to our Ikea couch that has finally found a new home after a solid 7 year run with us.
Outside we made our free little library out of scrap wood from the shipping container the dining table came in, made garden beds out of reclaimed wood from the rebuilding center, and mulched the front + back. It finally looks like a real adult yard! If you live nearby, we’d love any book donations you have to keep our little library stocked. Also would love donations of tarot decks, or anything book adjacent.
Next up we’re getting together deck bids, and hoping to have a much needed new deck before the fall. Now that furnishings are complete, we’re looking forward to installing a whole home water filter/softener, getting a medicine cabinet in the primary bath, and sourcing/installing new doors and knobs throughout the home including the front door. After that a few more updates on the agenda in the fall, and then we will finally move on to the much anticipated kitchen remodel.

May was a difficult month personally, my grandmama passed and I traveled to Louisville for the funeral. Afterwards, despite being prepared for her death for a few years now, the grief stayed with me for weeks and I took some time off to process. We also saw the aurora borealis, something I never thought I’d see in Washington, traveled to several flower festivals, and our first UFO fest in McMinnville.
In June we celebrated our 7 year wedding anniversary (time flies!) and took a little trip up to Olympic national park for Sienna’s first time at the coast. We all loved La Push beach (on Quileute land), cape flattery + Shi Shi beach (on Makah land) specifically. I feel very grateful to these tribes for allowing us access to their beautiful land. I’ll put together a travel guide for Olympic soon, its my favorite national park.
Professionally, I started a new kitchen remodel that I’m very excited about, and successfully had our first occupied home staging project with vonderhaus. After 4 days on market Jess got the first offer, and they’re now closed! I really enjoyed getting to collaborate with Jess in this way, and hope for more staging opportunities in the future.
We are still taking on projects for mid July - August start dates with plenty of availability. Right now we are loving helping families preparing for a tiny human’s arrival, garage projects, pantries, kitchen + bath remodels, and full home therapy transformations.
Our 15 hour package is great for condos, airbnbs, custom closet transformations or a 2-3 space project.
Our 30 hour package, our most popular offering, is best for anyone looking for a complete energy reset to address your entire home, from creating a new vision together to editing your belongings, and bringing in new furnishings and organizing products to streamline your life, create calm and bring new life to your space.
And if your not in the Portland/Vancouver metro, we offer virtual and travel options too! Happy to consider travel projects starting in October/November.
Any questions on these offerings, feel free to respond to this newsletter.
tv/movies
jerrod carmichael reality show- beautiful, raw, poignant view of life post coming out. I’ve never seen anything quite like it, but I’m so happy to see this kind of honesty on tv
furiousa- we actually saw this in theaters, and I recommend it. If mad max fury road was difficult for you visually, you’ll be very pleased with the camera work on this installment in the franchise. Beautiful story and cinematography from the female perspective on this dystopian desertscape. And they did a much better job explaining the mythology and plot lines this time around.
the bear szn 3- I cannot praise this show enough. The best thing that has been on cable tv maybe ever? It is high art. It is so satisfying to watch. So beautiful I cannot believe its on cable tv. Still moments of chaos like the last 2 seasons, but there is so much raw, real emotion and humanity captured in this level of artistry. And the Chicago/midwest love is so needed. If you worked in the service industry, you will more deeply appreciate it.
music
CHAPPELL ROAN! - I am an obsessed fangirl, and am very very happy to see queer pop artists having their moment in the spotlight, especially during pride season. I have her stuck in my head constantly, and I’m not mad about it.
